Capital.com wins Singapore licence, hires ex-IG chief Tony Lim

Capital Com Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. has been granted a Capital Markets Services licence by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), giving the CFD broker its first licensed base in Southeast Asia. The licence covers dealing in capital markets products, including securities and over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives contracts, a category that typically includes CFDs. The unit’s office is at 9 Battery Road, Raffles Place.

Capital.com has also appointed Tony Lim as CEO and Executive Director of the Singapore entity. The company describes him as a former IG Asia chief executive with more than 30 years in Singapore markets, including spells at SIMEX, Singapore Exchange, DBS Vickers Securities and Saxo Capital Markets.

Lim said the unit’s focus is on the foundations.

Our focus over the coming months is on getting the foundations right, from onboarding and client protections to the education and market insight that help people understand risk before they act.

Clients cannot yet be onboarded. Onboarding is scheduled for early 2027, using Singpass MyInfo identity verification, full verification before any trading and mandatory two-factor authentication.

Capital.com takes part in the Singapore FinTech Festival on 18-20 November 2026. Valentina Rzheutskaya, Executive Director at Capital.com, said the MAS licensing process examines every part of a firm’s governance, controls and capital.

Singapore already hosts CFD brokers including IG, CMC Markets and Saxo. Capital.com was recently regulated in South Africa and is exploring licences in Japan and Turkey. The broker was founded in 2016 and is regulated in the UK, EU, Middle East, Africa and Australia.
